Another find from a dusty Indian antique store! Every surface of this exuberant little box is a celebration of color. Crafted in India in the vintage tradition of ornamental metalwork, this small rectangle trinket and pill box is encrusted on both lid and sides with an eclectic collection of millefiori art glass cabochon beads, each one unique. Chevron beads, floral millefiori rounds, tiger’s eye spheres, and star-patterned glass beads crowd every available surface, set into individually beaded bezels and separated by twisted rope-twist wire borders and dotted granulation detailing.
The lid presents a large central glass bead — the clear standout of the composition — surrounded by four accent cabochons at the corners, with additional floral metalwork and beads studding the four side walls. Both the lid interior and box interior are lined in rich purple velvet, still vibrant, providing a jewel-worthy resting place for pills, rings, or any small treasure.
