Kruba Krissana’s Thep Phamon Chamlaeng — known among collectors as the “Butterfly King” — is one of the most visually striking and beloved talismans in the Thai metta and mahaniyom tradition, prized for its power to attract love, charm, and irresistible personal magnetism. This example is cast in vivid sky-blue sacred powder mixed with clay, its surface fully intact and richly detailed on both sides.
The front depicts a magnificent symmetrical pair of celestial butterfly wings spread wide and ornately patterned with circular cutwork detail. The wings merge at the center to frame the hidden faces of two celestial beings (often associated with Shiva and Parvati) in disguise. Dense Khom script inscriptions fill the surrounding border space, framed by a twisted rope-cord edge running the full perimeter of the tablet. The reverse continues the dual-figure composition in a more avian, phoenix-like rendering, with delicate spiral yantra accents and additional sacred markings throughout.
